JTF FAQ
WHAT IS JTF?
The Junior Theater Festival is the largest celebration of musical theater for young people and is produced by the Junior Theater Group and iTheatrics.
WHEN IS JTF?
In 2024, there will be two JTFs. JTF Atlanta will be held in person January 12-14, 2024, and JTF West will be held in person February 9-11, 2024, in Sacramento, California.
WHY SHOULD MY GROUP ATTEND JTF?
JTF gives everyone who attends the opportunity to experience the transformative power of musical theater through watching performances, attending workshops and making connections with other musical theater groups from around the world.
WHO ATTENDS JTF?
Any school, after-school, or community theater group that has done or is planning to do an MTI Broadway Junior®️ musical (includes JR. and KIDS titles) or MTI One-Act Edition.
IF I’M NOT PART OF A GROUP, CAN I COME TO THE FESTIVAL?
Teachers, Directors, and any adult who works with young people in musical theater can attend JTF on the Professional Development Track as an individual. Students must be registered with a group and may not attend as an individual.
IS THERE A ONE-DAY PASS?
No, there is not a one-day pass available.
IS THERE AN AGE REQUIREMENT FOR PARTICIPATING STUDENTS?
Any student between the ages of 8 and 18 is welcome to attend and perform with a group. No one who has graduated from high school is allowed to perform with a group.
WHAT SIZE IS A TYPICAL GROUP?
20-40 participants. There is a minimum of 20 participants per group. This number includes students, chaperones, directors, and any additional family and friends.
WHAT DOES A GROUP DO AT JTF?
Groups perform a 10-15-minute selection from one MTI Broadway Junior®️ musical (includes JR. and KIDS titles) or MTI One-Act Edition for adjudication, participate in workshops specifically designed for student performers, watch outstanding performances by their peers, and attend special JTF-curated programming and performances by theater professionals.
IS THERE PROGRAMMING FOR MY TECHNICAL THEATER STUDENTS?
Students interested in behind-the-scenes work can participate on the Student Technical Theater Track, which features specialized workshops in technical theater.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Visit https://register.juniortheaterfestival.com/Events/Upcoming-Events and create an account for your organization. All fees are due in full at the time of registration.
To register for JTF Atlanta and JTF West, choose the event to fill out the online form and submit the $825 non-refundable registration fee. To register on the Professional Development track, fill out the online form and submit the $500 participation fee.
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?
For JTF Atlanta and JTF West, we accept Mastercard, Visa, and American Express as well as checks and money orders made out to Junior Theater Group.
I FILLED OUT MY REGISTRATION ONLINE. NOW WHAT?
Our festival administrator will review your registration materials and email you when you have been officially accepted into the festival. This typically takes 2-3 weeks from the time of receipt. If you are not accepted, your registration fee will be refunded.
